Jenny CRISP
Title: Chronicles of War
Medium: nickel silver wire, paper, charcoal, leather/paper journal Dimensions: 143.5 x 23 x 23 cm Through my own love of working with metal, I wanted to express the endless sorrow felt by those who have lived through the dreadful trauma of war, an experience that remains with and keeps them entrapped for life. This work is a story left untold. One my father, who was remarkable storyteller, felt unable to tell. Metal has been my chosen material for sculptural work for over forty years and charcoal on paper the genesis of many ideas. Nickel silver wire assumes most readily for me, that three-dimensional expression of drawing and projection of an idea, developed from the charcoal on paper mind/head, within the wire skull. This work uses nickel silver wire, hand-formed and silver soldered to secure. Jenny Crisp studied metal smithing at TAFE in Perth with Kitch Curry, Eric Carr, John Linton and Terry Walsh and in Italy with Bruno Martinazzi. |
