Robyn LEES Precarious Balance ceramic, birch twigs, barbed wire, plastic. 90 x 90 x 90 cm The term Refugium has been used to define a protected area to conserve flora and fauna from dramatic ecological events such as climate change. The nest is a protected place, a snug retreat or refuge, an assemblage of twigs to incubate and rear ideas. This twig nest has been contaminated by human detritus. It is being upheld and supported by Gaia but the balance is precarious. Climate change and its consequences has meant the sustainability of the planets ecosystem is under threat. |
